Then stop budgeting.

Efficient Dollar reads your income, your bills and the day each one hits, then gives you a single number: what’s actually safe to spend. No envelopes, no categorizing, no weekly ritual to keep up.

Every budgeting app you’ve quit had the same flaw: it needed you.

Envelopes to fill. Transactions to categorize. A weekly ritual you kept for three weeks. Efficient Dollar is built the other way around — it works from the day you connect, and gets sharper whether or not you touch it.

01

Connect once

Checking, savings, cards, loans, investments — through Plaid, read-only. That’s the whole setup.

02

The engine reads your money

Recurring income, every bill and its date, balances, debts. No forms, no envelopes, no categorizing.

03

You get one number

Safe to spend, for the period you choose. Look at it, spend under it, and nothing bounces.

THE BUDGET ENGINE

An overdraft-prevention system, running in reverse.

Efficient Dollar takes every recurring bill and the exact day it hits, every paycheck and when it lands, and your real balance. From that it solves for the amount you need on hand each day to never overdraft. What’s left is your daily rate.

Pick your period. Weekly, biweekly, monthly. Daily rate × period = your number.

Underspend and it compounds. Surplus in checking gets front-loaded into what’s safe to spend now.

Overspend and it self-corrects. Your number steps down over the next one to three weeks instead of shaming you into a reset.

Goals bend the rate. Add a savings goal or a bill to save up for, and the daily rate drops just enough to make both dates.

HEADS UP · 8 DAYS OUT

Rent posts Sep 1, two days before your paycheck. Move $250 from Emergency, or hold spending to $34/day until Wednesday.

OVERDRAFT PREVENTION

You’ll know eight days before the bank does.

Because the engine already knows what’s coming and when, it can see the dip forming. You get told early, with the two or three moves that fix it — not a $35 fee and a notification after the fact.

Same machinery catches the quiet leaks: a subscription that renewed at triple what you were paying, before a year of it goes by unnoticed.

THE DECISION CHECK

“Should I buy this?” — answered against your actual numbers.

Set your own rules once: keep 15% of take-home free of obligations, never carry a car payment past four years, whatever matters to you. Then ask anything — from a $100 chair to a $60,000 loan — and get the consequence, in dollars, before you commit.

THE SMALL STUFF
I’m at the store. Should I get the $98 desk?

You can, but it’s tight. The $98 comes out of what’s keeping you above zero before your next paycheck, so your daily rate steps down for the rest of the week to absorb it. Nothing bounces — it just costs you every day between now and then.

Wait until Monday, when your paycheck lands, and it fits inside your rate with no step-down at all.
THE BIG STUFF
Can I take a $580/mo car loan for 60 months?

That crosses a line you set. Obligations go from 85% to 90% of take-home — your rule is to keep 15% free. It also overlaps the year you told us Jordan plans to stop working.

Efficient Dollar is not a financial advisor and does not provide financial advice. These checks describe the effect of a decision on your own numbers and the thresholds you set.

UNEXPECTED-EXPENSE BUFFER

The bill you didn’t see coming is why people end up in credit card debt.

Answer a few questions — car year and model, roof age, HVAC age, kids, pets — and we recommend what to set aside monthly. Every question you answer sharpens it, and so does a year of your real transactions.

Every account you connect, tracked from here.

Checking, savings, cards, loans, brokerage — every balance in one place, updating itself. No spreadsheet, no month-end ritual.

And the rest of it, without the busywork.

Everything you’d expect from a budgeting app is here. It just runs on the same engine, so none of it needs your attention to stay accurate.

Debt payoff plans

Pick avalanche, snowball, or a custom order. Your daily rate absorbs the payment and shows the payoff date move.

Transactions, already categorized

Every transaction, sorted and searchable. Use categories if you like them — nothing breaks if you never open the tab.

Ask anything about your money

“What did I spend on takeout last spring?” “What’s creeping up?” Plain questions, answered from your own data.

Alerts worth reading

A subscription that renewed at triple, a bill that moved, a dip forming before payday. We only ping you when there’s a dollar on the line.

Bill and income detection

Recurring items found automatically, with dates and amounts. Confirm a raise or flag a new bill in one tap to speed it up.

Your written plan

Talk through goals and life events and walk away with a plan document you can actually keep — yours to edit anytime.

SECURITY & PRIVACY

Yes, it requires a bank connection. That’s the whole point.

An app that runs itself has to see the money move. So we use Plaid — the same infrastructure thousands of banks and financial apps rely on. You log in on your bank’s screen, not ours. We never see or store your credentials, and access is read-only: Efficient Dollar cannot move a dollar of your money, ever.

Read-only by design

No transfers, no payments, no withdrawals. There is no code path that moves your money.

Bank-grade encryption

Your bank connection is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and decrypted only at the moment it is used. Tokenized connections, never raw credentials.

Never sold, never brokered

Your financial data is not a product. We don’t sell it, rent it, or hand it to advertisers.

Leave with your data

Disconnect any account in a tap. Delete your account and everything in it goes with you.

Be there on day one.

It isn’t open yet. Leave your email and you’ll hear from us the day it is.
